Answer

Let total number of apples be x.

5/6 of x apples bought at 4 apples for Rs. 5.

∴CP of one apple =

(6×5)

(5×4)

x=Rs.

3

2

x

Rest apples=x−

6

5

x=

6

x

6

x

, bought at 3 apples for 5

CP=

(6×5)

(3x)

=

10

x

.

So Average CP =

2

(

3

2x

)+(

10

x

)

=

30

23x

=0.76x per apple.

Now, average selling price =

11

20x

=1.81x

Gain = Rs 15

⇒1.81x−0.76x=15

⇒1.05x=15

⇒x=14.28

Thus, no. of apples = 14.

Answer:

15

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

The total price of apples = Rs 960

The number of apples retained out of apples purchased = 3

The price at which rest apples sold = Rs 800

The Gain amount = Rs 2 per apples

To Find :

The number of apple bought

Solution :

Let The number of apples bought initially = n apples

So, At Rs 960, n numbers of apples were bought

i.e cost price of n apples = Rs 960

And

Number of apple retained =  3

Selling price of  3 apples = s.p = Rs 800

∵  Gain = Selling price  - cost price

Or,  Rs 2 per apples = Rs 800 × (3) - Rs 960 × n

i.e  Rs 2 × n = Rs 800 × (  n - 3 ) - Rs 960 × n

Or,  2 n =  800 n - 2400 - 960 n

Or,  2 n = - 160 n - 2400

Or,  160 n - 2 n = 2400

Or,  158 n = 2400

∴             n =

i.e           n = 15

Hence, The number of apples did bought is 15  Answer
