Given:

A grocer mixes 21 kg of pulse A costing Rs81/kg and 24kg of pulse B costing Rs66/kg

To Find:

Find the cost of the mixture

Solution:

It is given that a grocer mixes two kinds of pulses at different rates and we need to find the cost of the mixture, to find the cost of the mixture we can use the formula for the weighted average which is,

                                 \bar{x}_w=\frac{\sum w_i x_i}{\sum w_i}

Now putting the values given in the question, we have it as follows

\bar{x}=\frac{21*81+24*66}{21+24} \\=\frac{3285}{45}\\=73

So by applying the weighted average concept we get the price of the resulting mixture as Rs73/kg

Hence, the rate of the mixture is Rs73/kg.

Right Question:

A grocer mixes 21 kg of pulse A costing Rs81/kg and 24kg of pulse B costing Rs66/kg. Find the cost of the resulting mixture.
