Answer:

A grocer mixes tea at Rs.40 per kg with at Rs.50 per kg to make 30 kg to be sold at Rs.45 per kg.

The quantities of each kind in the mixture, are 15 kg of type 1 and 15kg of type 2

Explanation:

The total quantity of both types of tea = 30kg

Let first type be x and the other (30-x)

The total price of the two brands should be equal to the total of the amount of the mixture

Price = No of Kgs × Price per kg

Price of type 1 = x kgs × Rs. 40/kg =  Rs. 40x

Price of type 2 = (30-x) kgs × 50/kg = Rs. 1500 - 50x

Price of the mixture = 30kgs × 45/kg = Rs. 1350

Therefore:

Rs. 40x + (1500 - 50x) = Rs 1350

       40x - 50x = 1350 - 1500

          - 10x = -150

            x = -150/-10

            x = 15

Therefore the number of kgs of type 1 tea = 15 kg

and type 2 is 30 - 15 = 15 kg
