Answer:

On the first layer of the stack we have 8×5=40 oranges

The 2nd layer which is added on the top of the first layer has 7×4=28 oranges

likewise on the 3rd,4th,5th layers we have

6×3=18 oranges

5×2=10 oranges

4×1=4 oranges

therefore there are 40+28+18+10+4=100 oranges in the stack

Ans: 100

Given:

Figure in which oranges are stacked = Pyramid

Rectangular base = 5 × 8

To find:

How many oranges are in the stack

Solution:

Oranges in the first row = 5 × 8 = 40

Oranges in the second row = 4 × 7 = 28

Oranges in the third row = 3 × 6 = 18

Oranges in the fourth row = 2 × 5 = 10

Oranges in the fifth row  = 1 × 4 = 4

Therefore,

Total oranges

= 40 + 28 + 18 + 10 + 4

= 100

Answer: There are 100 oranges in the stack
