Step by Step Explanation

we've to make equation on the basis of information given in question

let "x" be the kilograms of nuts with price of RS.4

and "y" be the kilogram of nuts with price of RS.7

4x+7y=5*42 eq:1

x+y=42 eq:2

multiply the first coefficient of each equations with other

we got

4x+7y=210 eq:1 (same)

4x+4y=168 eq:3

subtract the eq:3 from eq:1

4x+7y=5*42

4x+7y=5*424x+4y=168

we got

3y=42

y=42/3

y=14

now put the value of "y" in eq:2 to get the value of "x"

x+y=42

x+14=42

x=42-14

x=28

so we need 28 KG from the nuts selling for Rs.4 and 14 KG from nuts selling for Rs.7
