- The moisture source of the soil is always external.

The two most common moisture source of the soil is :

1) Rainwater.

2) Nearby water bodies.

- Now,the soil is a good absorber of the water and when it gets enough amount of the water from the environment ,the soil easily becomes moist.

That's why the ground near a water body is more moist than ground which is far away from the water body.
