Ans 1= 120 Men - 195 days          (provision left after 5 days)

           30 men killed

           Men left - 90     Days - D

          so 120 x 195 = 90 x D

          D= 260 days

Given :

  • A group of 120 men had provisions for 200 days
  • After 5 days 30 men died due to an epidemic.

To find : How long will the remaining food last?

Solution :

The remaining food will last for 260 days.

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Here, we will be using normal arithmetic method. (our goal is to calculate the number of days that the remaining provisions will last agree death of 30 men)

After 5 days,

120 men had provisions for = 200-5 = 195 days

After death of 30 men,

Remaining men = 120-30 = 90 men

Now,

120 men have provisions for = 195 days

1 man has provisions for = (195×120) days

90 men have provisions for = (195×120)/90 = 260 days

(This will be considered as the final result.)

Hence, the remaining food will last for 260 days.
