Let the no. of dogs be X and no. of hens be Y.
No. of legs given 14 therefore equation first becomes,
4X+2Y =2(X+Y) +14 (as hens have 2 legs and dogs
4 legs)
4X+2Y =2X+2Y +14
4X-2X=14
2X=14
X=7
no. of dogs are 7
