(ii) e is not at any of the ends. C is to the immediate right of b and d is to the immediate left of a, who is facing p. There are as many girls between p and q as between r and s. A is second to the left of b, s and r are not facing either b or d.

Given :  A group of five boys a, b, c, d and e and a group of five girls p, q, r, s and t are standing in a row facing each other

To find : Their positions

Solution:

group of girls is facing north

=> boys are facing South

C is to the immediate right of b and d is to the immediate left of a,

=> c & b together   and d & a together ;

=> e will be at Center / Middle

A is second to the left of b,  and right of d

=> A will be 4th   Hence boys position would be

c  b  e  a   d

p is facing a

s & r not facing b & d

=> s & r will face c & e

=> q will face b or d

if q face d then no one between p & q

=> no one between r & s  ( which is not possible as then one of r or s has to face b)

=> q face  b

=> there is one person between p & q

=> r & s will face c & e ( their exact position not defined)

Hence t will face d

c  b  e   a  d

r  q   s   p   t

or

c  b  e   a  d

s  q   r   p   t
