so 1 man do the work in -12*8 days

15 is correct. Let W be the work. x be the original number of men.
eqn 1. W=12x
eqn 2. W=18(x-5)
Thus 12x=18x-90
Solving we get x=15
1 day work for x men=1/12*x
1 day work for x-5 men=1/18(x-5)
1/12*x=1/18(x-5)=15
