Step-by-step explanation:

Let's find the x no. of people first

x=1x/4+1x/3+2x/5+3=x/4+x/3+2x/5+3

=LCM=60

So, (15x+20x+12x)/60+3=

= 47x/60+3=x

3=x-47x/60

=(60-47)x/60=3

=13x=180

x=180/13

so 1/4 of x people chose kiwi

so 1/4×180/14

= 35/4 people chose kiwi

SOLUTION

COMPLETE QUESTION

A group of ‘x’ people were asked to choose their favourite fruit. One fourth chose kiwi, one third chose banana and two fifth chose orange and three people chose grapes.

Based on the situation described above, answer the questions from 1 to 4.

1. How many People choose kiwi? (Express in terms of x) = ___________

2. How many People choose orange? (Express in terms of x) = ____________

3. Express the above situation in terms of equation = __________

4. How many people were there in the above group = _____________

EVALUATION

Total number of people in the group = x

1. Since One fourth choose kiwi

Hence the number of People choose kiwi

 \displaystyle \sf \: = \frac{x}{4}

2. Since two fifth chose orange Hence the number of People choose orange

 \displaystyle \sf \: = \frac{2x}{5}

3. By the given condition

 \displaystyle \sf \: \frac{x}{4} + \frac{x}{3} + \frac{2x}{5} + 3 = x

Which is the required equation

4. We now solve the above equation

 \displaystyle \sf \: \frac{x}{4} + \frac{x}{3} + \frac{2x}{5} + 3 = x

 \displaystyle \sf \implies \: x - \frac{x}{4} - \frac{x}{3} - \frac{2x}{5} = 3

 \displaystyle \sf \implies \: \frac{60x - 15x - 20x - 24x}{60} = 3

 \displaystyle \sf \implies \: \frac{x}{60} = 3

 \displaystyle \sf \implies \: x = 60 \times 3

 \displaystyle \sf \implies \: x =180

The number of people were there in the above group = 180
