Hello there!
Yes, this statement is very true as Gradually in France there emerged a business class which consisted mainly of Businessmen , professionals , Lawyers, etc. And this was the class which Made National Assembly after abandoning the General Estates Meeting when they were allowed only to stand while others were given seats. And after this National Assembly, there came Constitutional Monarchy in France but after Louis XI made plans with neighbouring countries to re-establish Monarchy , these were only the people who set up Jacobin clubs and Fired the Fort of Tulleris ( Check spelling) and executed Louis XI and MARRIE ANTOINETTE.
So this class played a dominating role in abolishing such privileges given to other to estates and setting up of France as Republic.
HOPE IT HELPS.

Answer:

middle class, who earned their wealth through an expanding overseas trade and from the manufacture of goods such as woolen and silk textiles that were either exported or bought by the richer members of society. In addition to merchants and manufacturers, the educated in the third estate included professions such as lawyers or administrative officials. They believed that no group in society should be privileged by birth. Rather, a person’s social position must depend on his merit. These ideas envisaging a society based on freedom and equal laws and opportunities for all, paved way for the emergence of the middle class.
