There's a field across town where they say dogs won't go, or birds, or any kind of animal for that matter,” LeRoi said to the man sitting on the seat next to him as he drove along the highway.
“A house once stood there, but it's long since gone. The last owner of the property, a local dentist named Stratton, killed his family and himself 35 years ago to escape a rape and sexual assault scandal. Seems Dr. Stratton liked to take advantage of female patients while they were under sedation.” LeRoi glanced over at his passenger.
“Dr. Stratton purchased the field at an estate sale. The prior owner, an old woman blinded by cataracts, had walked into the Savings and Loan and opened fire with her shotgun, angry over… something. The security guard tried to disarm her, but in the struggle the gun went off and took the left side of her head with it.”
LeRoi sat silently for a moment, the cab filled with the rumble of the engine and the growl of the heavy tire tread on the pavement.
“I guess there’s something that happens to whoever owns that field. What do you think?” He glanced across the cab. “I own that field now. Are you scared of me?”
They went over a hard bump in the road and the man started to slump over in his seat. LeRoi reached over, propped him back up, and laughed.
“Don’t be. Dead men have nothing to fear.”
"When I was 18, I was really into scary movies. I just had an urge to see or experience something scary. It was during this summer that I started researching haunted sights I could visit. Then one caught my attention: Sweet Hollow Road in Long Island. There are a bunch of popular urban legends linked to the sight, and all of them have to do with a creepy underpass bridge. A few of the stories speak about the violent deaths of children.
One day I told my cousin and brother (who were also ghost story fanatics) that we should visit Sweet Hollows. My cousin had just gotten his license, and my mom insisted on tagging along.
When we finally got to the underpass, we found nothing. We didn't see anything out of the ordinary. The only scary thing we experienced at the sight was that, due to the thin zig-zag-like road, we almost crashed into a tree. We thought the trip was a waste.
But then something strange happened. The next morning, my mom swore that during the night she felt like someone or something was watching her from under her bed. On the other hand, the rest of us had dreamt of a small boy with black hair. He was pale, and none of us could remember his face. Until this day, we still believe that whoever we saw had to be one of the many children who had died at that bridge.
hope it helps!!
