A gulab jamun, contains sugar syrup up to about
30% of its volume. Find approximately how much
syrup would be found in 45 gulab jamuns, each
shaped like a cylinder with two hemispherical ends
with length 5 cm and diameter 2.8 cm (see Fig. 13.15).

Answer:

338 centimeter cube or 338 cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

As,

Diameter of Cylinder = 2.8

Therefore, Radius = 1.4

Hence, L=2r + H

5=2×1.4 + H

H = 5 - 2.8 = 2.2 cm

Volume Of Cylinder = πr²h

= 22/7× (1.4)²× 2.2

= 13.55cm³

Volume of hemisphere = 2/3πr³

= 2/3 × 22/7 × (1.4)³

= 5.75

Volume of two hemisphere = 2 × 5.75 = 11.5cm³

Volume of Gulab Jamun = Volume of Cylinder+ Volume of Two Hemispheres.

= 13.55 + 11.50

Volume of Gulab Jamun = 25.05cm³

So Volume of one gulab jamun is 25.05cm³

Therefore,Volume of 45 Gulab Jamun = 45 × 25.05cm³

= 1127.25

It is given 30% of Gulab Jamun Volume is filled with Syrup.

So,

Syrup in 45 Gulab jamuns= 30% of 1127.75

= 338.25 cm³

so syrup filled in 45 gulab jamun in a cylinder is 338.25cm³ Respectively.
