Calculation:

  • Initial velocity of both gun and bullet is 0 m/s. Let final velocity of gun be v_(2).

Applying CONSERVATION OF LINEAR MOMENTUM principle:

 \sf m_{1}u_{1} + m_{2}u_{2} = m_{1}v_{1} + m_{2}v_{2}

 \sf  \implies m_{1}(0) + m_{2}(0)=( \frac{25}{1000}   \times 200)+ 5v_{2}

 \sf  \implies 0=( \frac{25}{1000}   \times 200)+ 5v_{2}

 \sf  \implies 5v_{2} =  - 5

 \sf  \implies v_{2} =  - 1 \: m {s}^{ - 1}

So, recoil velocity of gun be 1 m/s
