from law of conservation of momentum and Newton's 3rd law of motion net force=0
so
initial momentum= final momentum
0= momentum of (gun + bullet)
-momentum of gun= momentum of bullet
this negative sign represents opposite direction, but we need just abs values in order to calculate recoil velocity
let mass of bullet be m
then mass of gun= 200m
let the recoil vel. be u.
acc. to eq.,
200m*u= m*400
u= 2 m/s ans
