A gun of mass 3 kg fires a bullet of 30 gram the bullet takes 0.003 second to move through the barrel of the gun and acquire a velocity of 100 m per second calculate the velocity with which the gun recoil and the force exerted on the gunman due to recoil of gun

This is a sum based on principle of conservation of linear momentum.

i)Mass of bullet x Muzzle Velocity of bullet =
Mass of gun x Recoil Velocity of gun.

Therefore,
30x10^-3x100 = 3xRecoil Velocity
3=3xV
So, V=1m/s.

ii) Force=Impulse/time
=(3x1)/0.003s
=1000N
