A gun of mass 3 kg fires a bullet of mass 30 grams the bullet takes 0.003 seconds to move through the barrel of the gun and acquires a velocity of 100 m/sec.calculate 1.the velocity with which the gun recoils 2.the force exerted on gunman due to recoils of the gun.

1.) Momentum of the gun = momentum of the bullet

Momentum = mass × Velocity

Substituting in the formula we have :

0.03 × 100 = 3 × V

V = 1 m/s

2.) Force = mass × Acceleration

Acceleration = change in velocity ÷ time

Initial velocity of the gun= 0

a = (1 - 0) / 0.003 = 333.33m/s²

Force = 3 × 333.33 = 999.99 = 1000 N
