a gun of mass 4.5kg fires a bullet of mass 20g with a velocity of 108kmph calculate the velocity recoiling of the gun in SI system​

Solution :-

We have :-

• Mass of Gun = 4.5 Kg

• Mass of bullet = 0.02 kg

• Velocity of bullet on leaving = 108 kmph or 30 m/s

We know :-

• Total momentum is conserved during this event

• The sum of product of mass with intial velocity

= The sum of product of mass with final velocit.

Procedure :-

Mass of system × Intial velocity = Mass of Gun × Velocity of gun + Mass of Bullet × Velocity of bullet

→ ( 4.5 + 0.02 ) (0) = 4.5(v) + 0.02(30)

→ 0 = 4.5 v + 0.6

→ -4.5v = 0.6

→ v = - 0.6/4.5

→ v = - 0.1334 m/s
