Given:

  • Mass of Bullet = 10g
  • Velocity of Bullet = 100 m/s
  • Mass of gun = 500 g (0.5kg)

 \\

To Find:

  • Momentum of Bullet?
  • Velocity of Gun?
  • Momentum of Gun?

 \\

Solution:

Momentum of Bullet;

Mass of bullet is 10g

=> 1kg = 1000 g

=> kg = 10/1000

=> kg = 0.01 kg

 \bigstar{\underline{\boxed{\sf{ Momentum = Mass \times Velocity }}}} \\

Where

  • p = Momentum
  • m = Mass
  • v = Velocity

➙ p = m × v

➙ p = 0.01 × 100

➙ p = 1 kg.m/s

  • Momentum of bullet is 1kg.m/s.

 \\

 \bigstar{\underline{\underline{\boxed{\sf{ \green{Momentum_{(Bullet)} } = \blue{Momentum_{(Gun)} } }}}}} \\

 \\

After substituting values,

➙ Momentum (bullet) = Momentum (Gun)

➙ m × v = m × v

➙ 0.01 × 100 = 0.5 × v

➙ 1/0.5 = v

v = 2 m/s

  • Velocity of Gun is 2 m/s.

 \\

Momentum of Gun;

 \bigstar{\underline{\boxed{\sf{ Momentum = Mass \times Velocity }}}} \\

➙ p = m × v

➙ p = 0.5 × 2

➙ p = 1 kg.m/s

Hence,

  • The Momentum of gun is 1 kg.m/s.
