Answer:

Let AB (=24m ) be guy wire attached to a vertical pole BC of height 18 m. To keep the wire taut let it fixed to stake at A Then ABC is a right triangle right angled at C

∴AB^2

=AC^2 +BC^2

so ∴24^2

=AC^2 +18^2

or AC^2 =576−324

or AC^2 =25

or AC= √252

=6√7 cm

therefore the stake may be placed at a distance of 67 m from the base of pole

Answer:

Let AB (=24m ) be guy wire attached to a vertical pole BC of height 18 m. To keep the wire taut let it fixed to stake at A

Then ABC is a right triangle right angled at C.

∴AB² = AC² + BC²

So ∴24² = AC² + 18²

or AC² = 576 – 324

or AC² = 252

or AC = √252

= 6√7cm

therefore the stake may be placed at a distance of 6√7m from the base of pole.
