Given,

Ratio of steps = 1:3

Number of steps taken by Jerry= 10

Number of steps taken by Tom= 15

To find,

The total number of steps in the stepper machine

Solution,

Let the number of steps for the demo run be x

Using the given ratio, we get

Steps of Jerry= x and and Steps of tom as 3x

On adding, total number of steps in demo run would be,

⇒x+3x=10+15

⇒4x=25

⇒x=\frac{25}{4}

⇒x=6.25≈6

Now, on substituting the value of x=6, we get

Steps of Jerry= 6 and Steps of tom as 18

∴Total number of steps = 6+18

⇒Total number of steps =24

Hence, the total number of steps in stepper machine is 24
