Given :- A hall has 625 chairs are arranged in rows and columns with the number of rows equal to the number of columns. The chairs in one row and one column are removed. How many chairs remain ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, number of rows and number of columns are x .

then,

→ Total chairs in the hall = Number of rows * Number of column .

→ x * x = 625

→ x² = (25)²

→ x = 25 .

we can conclude that, each row and column has 25 chairs.

Now, we have given that, the chairs in one row and one column are removed.

then,

→ Chair removed from 1 row = 25

→ Chair removed from 1 column = 24 (as 1 is already removed from row.)

therefore,

→ Chair left in the hall = 625 - (25 + 24) = 576 (Ans.)

Answer:

√ 625 = 5x5 = 25

Number of rows and number of columns = 25

After removing chairs the total number of chairs = 24 x 24 = 576
