A hall is 20 m long and 16 m wide . A carpet is laid centrally leaving 2 m space uncovered all around. Find the cost of carpeting it at the rate of ₹ 8 per square metre.

area of hall = 20x16= 320m

area of carpet = 20x16-2= 318

cost= 8x318= 2544₹
