Solution

Given

  • A hall is 24m long and 18m wide.
  • A carpet is to be laid on the floor after leaving a margin of 75cm form the walls.

To Find

  • The area of the carpet.
  • The area of the floor uncovered.

Step-by-Step-Explaination

Length of hall = 24 m

Breadth = 18 m

Area of rectangle = l × b

24 m × 18 m = area

Then area of carpet = L × B

L = 24 m - ( 0.75 m + 0.75 m )

= 24 m - 1.5 m

= 22.5 m

W = 18 m - ( 0.75 m + 0.75 m )

= 18 m - 1.5 m

= 16.5 m

Area of rectangle = l × b

= 22.5 m × 16.5 m

= 371. 25 m

Area of the floor uncovered

= 432 \:  {m}^{2} - 371.25 \:  {m}^{2}

= 60.75 \:  {m}^{2}

Answer :-

Area of the Carpet = 371.25 \:  {m}^{2}

Area of the floor uncovered = 60.75 \:  {m}^{2}
