Answer: For A, P= 7.5 X 10^5 For B, P= 2.5 X 10^5

Explanation:

Pressure is force applied per unit area

P = F / A

For nail A

area of cross-section is 2mm sq. i.e. 2 X 10^-6 m sq.

therefore pressure = F/A= 1.5/ 2X10^-6 = 7.5 × 10^5

For nail B

area of cross-section is 6mm sq i.e. 6 X 10^-6 m sq.

again, P = F/A = 1.5/ 6 x 10^-6 = 2.5 X 10 ^5 m sq.
