Given:

  • Mass of hammer =m = 450 gram = 0.45 kg
  • Initial speed= u = 590m/s
  • Final Speed= v = 0m/s
  • Time = t = 0.1s

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Need to find:

  • Force of nail on the hammer =?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Solution:

We know, from the 1st equation of motion, that,

v = u + at

substitute the values

\implies 0 = 590 + a \times 0.1

 \implies \: a  \times 0.1=  - 590

\purple{\bold{\boxed{\implies a =  - 5900 \: m {s}^{2}}}}

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We know from NLM that,

Force= Mass × Acceleration

  • Given Mass= 0.45kg
  • And we got Acceleration = 5900 m/{s}^{2}

Substitute the values!

\implies Force = 0.45kg \times (-5900) m/ {s}^{2}

\large{\red{\bold{\boxed{\implies Force = -2655N}}}}

▪Here minus (-)sign indicates that the Force acts in the direction opposite to the motion of hammer.
