A hammer of mass 2 kg moving at 100 m/s strikes a nail.The nail stops thehammer in a very short time of 0.02 s. What is the force of the nail on the
hammer?​

Given

Mass of Hammer = 2 kg

v= 100 m/s , u = 0 m/s

t = 0.02 s

acc .(a) = v- u/t = 100- 0/0.02

             = 5000m/s^2

F = ma (due to hammer)

  = 2 * 5000 = 10000 N

From Newton's 3rd law of motion

Force on nail = Force on hammer

Thus, Force due to nail on hammer = 10000 N
