Answer:

1200 N

Explanation:

force = ma = 0.4 x 30/0.01 = 1200 N

Given,

The mass of the hammer = 400 g

Initial velocity (u) = 0

Final velocity (v) = 30 ms^-1

Time taken = 0.01 seconds

To find out,

The force of the nail on hammer.

Solution:

 \huge \: acceleration(a) =  \frac{v - u}{t}

a \:  =  \frac{30 - 0}{0.01}  \\ a \:  =  \frac{30}{0.01}  \\ a \:  = 3000 \: m {s}^{2}

Now, using the second law of motion.

Force = mass × acceleration

F = ma

Here, mass (m) = 400 g = 0.4 kg

acceleration (a) = 3000

Force = 0.4 × 3000

Force = 1200 N

Hence the force acting on the nail is 1200N.
