A hammer of mass 500gm moving at 50m/s strikes a nail .the nail stops the hammer in very short time of 0.015 what is the force of the nail on hammer

Given ,
m = .5 kg
u = 50 m/s
v = 0 [ Since, Hammer is stopped ]
t = 0.015 s
So , a = (v-u)/t = -50/0.015 = -3,333.33 m/s^2
So , F = m*a = .5*-3333.33 = -1,666.67 N

F=ma=m(v-u)/t=0.5×(0-50)/0.01= -2500Nt

Here

Negative sign indicate that the force of nail on the hammer is opposite
