A Haploid organism produces gametes by mitosis. Does it mean that meiosis
never occurs in such organisms?

No, meiosis can't take place in haploid cells.Due to meiosis the chromosome number of a cell reduces to half.In haploid and diploid cells complete genome ,necessary for existing a cell is present.if meiosis takes place in haploid cells the chromosome number reduces to 1/4 where there is no complete genome and which leads to damage of the cell
