A hare sees a dog 100m away from him and scuds off in the opposite direction at the speed of 12 km per hour. A minute later the dog perceives him and gives chase at a speed of 16 km per hour. how soon will the dog overtake the hare

here's your answer

distance covered by hare in 2 min = 24/60 * 2  = 800km

Now to overtake the hare dog has to cover a distance of  (800+200] =1000 m with the relative speed of (32−24)=8 km/hr

time =  1/8 hr = 60/8 = 7.5km

Now distance travelled by hare in 1/8 hr ; 1/8 * 24 = 3km
