we know efficiency =1-Q2/Q1(or =W/Q1) As eff. =20% therefore efficiency =20/100 =2/10 and work performed,W =200J(GIVEN)  thus 2/10 (eff.)= 200/Q1 WHICH Implies Q1= 1000J now heat absorbed,Q2= Q1-W=1000-200=800J WHICH IS THE HEAT ABSORBED.

areebah: The answer is 1000Joules . Not 800j :/
prashantbhatia: sorry u r right the answer is Q=1000J
areebah: So how come ? Thats what im confused in ? :/
areebah: Hey leave i just got the answer already . Thanks . Bless you

Answer:

A

Explanation:

A Heat engine is performs 200J of work in each cycle and has efficiency of 20 %. Find (a) How much heat is absorbed? (b) How much is Expelled??

W = 200J

E =20 % = 20 ÷100 = 0.2

E = 0.2

Q1 = ?

Q2 = ?

Solution :

E = W/Q1

Crossing = EQ1 =w

Putting values

0.2 × Q1 = 200

0.2 --> Multiply and divide by both side

Q1 = 200/0.2

Q1 = 1000J

Now find the Q2

Q2 = Q1 - W

Q2 = 1000 - 200

Q2 = 800 J

This is Correct way
