Surface area of solid= Surface area of Cuboid having side 7 cm + Surface area  of Hemisphere having maximum diameter

                               =  6×(Side)² + 3 πR² where R is radius of sphere.

                               = 6×7² + 3×22/7×(7/2)²

                               = 6×49+ 3×22/7×49/4

                               =294 +115.50

                               = 409.50 cm²

If you will take diameter of hemisphere along the Diagonal of a cuboid it will just come out of surface i.e it will cross the boundary of cuboid.

Answer:

A hemisphere of maximum possible diameter placed over a Cuboidal block of side =7cm

Then, Radius = 7/2 CM = 3.5cm.

Now, Surface area of Cuboidal block= Total surface area of cube - Area of lower part of hemisphere + curved surface area of hemisphere.

=> 6a^2 - πr^2 + 2πr^2

=> 6×(7)^2 - 22/7×7/2×7/2 + 2×22/7×7/2×7/2

=>294 - 77/2 + 77

=> 294 - 77+154/2

=> 294 + 77/2

=> 588+77/2

=> 665/2 = 332.5cm^2.

Hope this helps you...
