\bold{\underline{\underline{Solution \::}}}

Given :

  • Radius of hemispherical dome = 40 cm
  • Used sheet = 13/170

According to question,

Surface area of hemisphere (dome) = 2πr²

Substitute the known values in above formula

⇒ 2 × 22/7 × (40)²

⇒ 44/7 × 1600

10057 cm² (approx.)

Let area of fibre sheet be "M".

A hemispherical dome which open at the base is made from a sheet of fibre. If the radius of the hemispherical dome is 40 cm and 13/170 of the fibre sheet actually used was wasted in the making the dome.

According to question,

⇒ 10057 + (13/170)M = M

⇒ (1709690 + 13M)/170 = M

⇒ 1709690 + 13M = 170M

⇒ 1709690 = 170M - 13M

⇒ 157M = 1709690

⇒ M = 10889.7

Now,

Cost of the dome at the rate Rs. 35 per 100 cm² = (10889.7 × 35)/100

⇒ 381139.5/100

Rs. 3811 (approx.)
