Three cows are there in the herd.

Given:

A cow gives 4 liters of milk every day.

To Find:

The total no of cows in the herd.

Solution:

Given that a cow gives one-third of total milk.

⇒ Each cow will give 1/3 * 4 = 4/3 liters.

In six days they gave 24 liters of milk

∴ In one day they can give 24/6 = 4 liters of milk.

The total number of cows

= Total no of liters of milk given by herds of cow / no of liters given by each cow.

= 4 / (4/3)

= 4 * (3/4)

= 3

Therefore, three cows are there in the herd.
