A Here is a conversation between Granny and Guddi about deserts. With a partner, take up
the roles of Guddi and Granny and act out the scene. Remember you have to convert the
lines into direct speech to make the dialogue.
Guddi asked Granny if the Sahara was the largest desert in the world. Granny said no and added
that it is the second largest desert. Then Guddi asked Granny which desert was the largest in the
world. In reply, Granny said that Antarctica is considered to be the largest desert because a desert
is described as an area of land that has very little water and has very few plants growing in it. She
added that by that defnition, Antarctica is the largest desert. Then Guddi asked her if the Arctic was
also a desert and Granny told him that the Arctic is not really a piece of land, but an ocean covered
by thick layers of ice.
