James Mill wrote the history of British India. It had six volumes  and was published in 1817. He began writing in 1806 and was hoping to complete the work in seven years but it took him twelve years. The book was a hit among British Imperialists and made his prosperous.  After the success of the book he was appointed as the examiner of correspondence at the Imperial east India company.  

In the preface he had mentioned that his objectivity comes from the fact that he never visited Indian and didn't know any of the native languages.
