A hockey ball of mass 200 g travelling with a velocity of 10 m/s is struck by a hockey

stick. The ball returns along its path with a velocity of 5 m/s. If the hockey stick and the

ball were in contact for 0.2 s, calculate:

Explanation:

F = m(v-u) /t

= 200/1000 ( -5-10)/0.2

= 0.2 (-15) /0.2

= -15 N

it means the hockey stick exerts 15 N on the ball.
