Solution:

The exchange rate was $1 = €0.86.

=> €0.86  cost  = $1

=> €1  cost  =  $ 1/0.86

=> €995 cost  = 995/0.86  $

= 99500/86  $

= 1,156.976

= 1,156.98 $

Cost of the holiday in dollars,  to the nearest cent = 1,156.98 $
