A hollow cylindrical pipe is 35 m long. Its outer and inner diameters are 16 cm and
14 cm, respectively. Find the volume of metal (in mº) used in making the pipe.

Given length of pipe h = 35 m

External radius of cylinder = 16/2 = 8 cm= 0.08 m

External volume of cylinder = π x0.08x0.08x35

Internal radius of cylinder = 14/2 = 7 cm = 0.07 m

Internal volume of cylinder = π x0.07x0.07x35

Volume of pipe = External volume - Internal volume

= π X 35 (0.08x0.08 - 0.07 x0.07)

= 22/7 X 35 (.0064-.0049)

= 110 X 0.0015

= 0.165m^3
