A horizontal circular loop of wire of radius 0.02 m is lowered into a crude oil form film. The force due to surface tension of the liquid is 0.0113 N. Calculate the surface tension of crude oil

Given :

r = 0.02m

F = 0.0113 N

F = Tl

l = 2 × 2πr  

F = Tl

∴ F = 4πrT  

∴ T = F /4 r π  

T = 0.0113/ 4 x3.142x 0.02  

∴ T = 0.04495 N/m

∴the surface tension of crude oil is 0.04495 N/m
