let cost of horse be ₹x
cost of cart is 1/3 of x = x/3
ACC to question
x + x/3 = 1600
3x + x = 3*1600
4x = 4800
x = 4800/4
x = 1200
so cost of horse is ₹1200

Hey.. here is ur answer

total cost of both cart and the horse= Rs.1600

let the cost of the horse be x.

cost of the cart = 1/3 of x = x/3

a/q            x/3 + x = 1600

              ⇒  x+3x/3 = 1600

              ⇒  4x/3  = 1600

              ⇒  x = 1600 × 3 / 4

              ∴  x = 1200

so, the cost of te horse is Rs.1200

and cost of cart is 1/3 of x = 1/3 of 1200 = Rs. 400
