let the cost of horse be rs x and the cost of cart be rs y
now,
x + y = 1600 ........(1)
also,
y= 1/3 * x
put the above value in (1), we get
x + 1/3 * x = 1600
3x + x = 1600 * 3
4x = 4800
x = Rs 1200
now, y= 1/3 * 1200= Rs 400
now,
x + y = 1600 ........(1)
also,
y= 1/3 * x
put the above value in (1), we get
x + 1/3 * x = 1600
3x + x = 1600 * 3
4x = 4800
x = Rs 1200
now, y= 1/3 * 1200= Rs 400
