Let the cost of Horse be x
cost of cart be y
a horse and a cart together cost rupees 4600
so x + y = 4600....(1)
the cost of the cart is one third is equal to the cost of horse
x = y×1/3
x= y/3
3x = y ....(2)
substituting
(2) in (1)
x + y = 4600
x + 3x = 4600
4x = 4600
x = 1150 = cost of horse
then cost of cart will
x + y = 4600
1150 + y = 4600
y = 4600 - 1150 = 3450 = cost of that cart
