A hostel has enough food for 150 boys for 30 days. after 10 days 50 boys leave the hostel. find how long will the remaining food last? ​

To resolve this problem we have to assume each students requires the same amount of food each day and let's say it is 1 unit of food.

So at the start they have 100×130 = 13,000 units of food.

After 10 days the 100 students will have consumed 100×10 = 1,000 units of food.

When 20 students leave we now have food for 80 students and the food remaining is 13,000-1,000 = 12,000 units.

This food would last the 80 students 12,000/80 = 150 days.

Ans = 150 days.
