- Amount of provision = no. of boys * no. of days = constant
- The value of provisions remain same in both cases and hence can be equated
Let number of boys who remained = x
500*4 = x*20
2000 = 20x
x = 2000/20
x = 100
x = 100 boys
so number of boys who left are
= total boys - boys who remained
= 500 - x
= 500 - 100
= 400 boys
answer = 400 boys went out of the hostel.
