The food will last for 15 days

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the no. of days be x

For 20 students and for 30 days, the hostel spends = Rs. 3200

For 1 student and for 30 days, the hostel spends = 3200/20 = 160 Rs.

For 1 student and for 1 day, the hostel spends = 160/30 = 16/3 Rs.

Therefore,

For 30 students and for 1 day, the hostel will spend = 16/3 × 30 = 160 Rs.

Then for 30 students and for x days, the hostel will spend = 160 × x = 160x Rs.

According to the question

160x = 2400

or, x = 2400/160 = 15 days

Therefore, the food will last for 15 days

Hope this answer is helpful.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

A hostel spends 3200 on food for 20

students for 30 days

To find:

If they spend 2400 on food for 30 students, for how many days will the food last?

Explanation:

Food Expenses for 1 day=3200/30

Food Expenses for 1 student on 1 day=

 \frac{3200}{20 \times 30} \\ \\ = \frac{32}{6} \\ \\ = \frac{16}{3} rupees

Now, 2400 Rs to spend for 30 students

Expense for 30 students

 \frac{16}{3} \times 30 \\ \\ = 16 \times 10 \\ \\ = 160 \: per \: day

Total days

 = \frac{2400}{160} \\ \\ = \frac{240}{16} \\ \\ = 15 \: \: days

For 15 days the food will last .

Hope it helps you.
