A hot plate of an electric oven connected to a 220 V line has two resistance coils A and B, each of 24 SZ resistance, which may be used separately. in series, or in parallel. What are the currents in the three cases?

The voltage V = 24 Volt.

The resistance of one coil R = 24 ohms.

The coils are used separately.

And we know V = IR where I is the current. So I = V/R = 220/24 = 9.16 Ampere.

When connected in series R2 = 24 + 24 =ohms.

Therefore I2 = 220/48= 4.58 Ampere.

Again when connected parallel, I3= V/R3 = 220/12 = 8.33 Ampere.
