A house 20m long and 15m wide is surrounded by a verandah of uniform width of 3 m. find the cost of flooring the verandah at Rs. 200 per square?

Area of house = 20m×15m = 300
width of varandah = 3m
area of varandah =(300-(20-3)×(15-3))
=300-204
= 96
cost of flooring the varandah = 96 ×200
=Rs.19,200

width = 15m

area of house = 20 × 15 = 300m^2

width of verandah = 3m

length of house including verandah

= 20 + 3 = 23m

width of house including verandah
= 15 + 3 = 18m

area of house including verandah

= 23 × 18 = (20 + 3) × 18

= 360 + 54 = 414m^2

area of verandah = 414 - 300

= 114m^2

cost of 1m^2 = ₹200

cost of 114m^2 = 114 × 200

= ₹22800
